Yacht interior cleaning in Monaco and on the French Riviera
MacPro cleans yacht interiors dockside across Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Monaco: wool carpet in cabins and passageways, leather upholstery, banquettes, headboards and woven vinyl floors. Work is scheduled within the window set by the captain or yacht manager, before lay-up, after refit or between charters. Replacing carpet or upholstery on board costs several times the shore price and keeps the boat alongside; restoring it costs a fraction of that.
Salt, sunscreen and wool
Salt comes aboard on bare feet and clothing and settles into the pile. It holds moisture, stiffens the fibre and dries into whitish marks at the thresholds between deck and saloon. Sunscreen soaks into deck cushions, saloon banquettes and leather armrests, yellows and grabs dust.
Yacht carpet is often pale wool, the fibre that copes worst with excess water: it can shrink, the backing can distort, and damp lingers in an enclosed space. That is why we clean dry. Plant-based sponges are brushed into the pile with TM 3 or TM 4 counter-rotating machines, pick up the soil and are vacuumed out. The carpet is never wetted through.

Lay-up, refit, charter turnaround
Before winter lay-up, salt and sunscreen come out before they set for months. After a refit, yard dust has worked into the fibres despite protection: we come in after the other trades, once sanding and varnishing are done. Between charters, we target the areas that need it inside the window the captain gives us.
We work dockside in Monaco (Port Hercule, Fontvieille), in the Alpes-Maritimes (Cap-d'Ail, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Port Vauban in Antibes, Golfe-Juan, Cannes, Mandelieu-la-Napoule), in the Var (Saint-Raphaël, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez, Port Grimaud, Toulon) and in the Bouches-du-Rhône (Marseille, La Ciotat shipyards).
What we clean on board
Each material has its product. Natural for wool and textiles. Pro-active for stubborn marks, with a dedicated version for woven vinyl. Leather is cleaned with a regenerating soap, then nourished and protected. Solvastain for oil and grease tracked in from the engine room or the deck. Fabric wall panels and headboards are cleaned panel by panel with very little moisture, so they dry evenly.

Interior crew training
Red wine on a pale carpet at midnight, mid-charter, is the stews' problem first. The Unipro group runs a Qualiopi-certified training organisation and trains interior crew in day-to-day stain removal, with the kit to keep aboard: Fast stain-removal wipes, the KF 100/200 coffee and tea kit, Pro-active.
Questions we are often asked
Can wool carpet on a yacht be cleaned without soaking it?
Yes. Dry-compound cleaning uses plant-based sponges that lift soil from the pile without wetting it through, while counter-rotating brushes raise the crushed fibre. It suits wool yacht carpet, which reacts badly to excess water and dries slowly in an enclosed space.
When should a yacht interior be cleaned?
At the end of the season, before lay-up, to remove salt and sunscreen before they set. After a refit, to clear yard dust. Between charters, targeted at the areas showing wear. MacPro works within the window set by the captain or yacht manager.
Which marinas do you cover?
Monaco and the marinas of the Alpes-Maritimes, including Port Vauban in Antibes, Cannes, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the Var from the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to Toulon; and the Bouches-du-Rhône, in Marseille and La Ciotat. MacPro is based in Saint-Martin-du-Var, near Nice.
Why not simply replace the carpet?
On board, every piece is templated to the hull and replacement keeps the yacht alongside. It costs several times the shore price, where high-end wool carpet already runs at €115 to €230 per square metre fitted. If the fibre is sound, restoration is the better call.
